Bret Stephens Calls Me Out

As also with George Will: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203440104574398442481337048.html. Stephens says that along with Will, I'm a lisping ninny for saying Afghanistan is a reeking pile of shit unworthy of our efforts and that leaving would send a dangerous message to our friends and enemies alike. I like Stephens and usually agree with him. Hell, he may be right. Worth thinking about but I still think at the end of the day, the country we're bending over backwards to make less backward will revert to its mean of cruelty, sodomy, and the lash. Allah, akbar.

Will's column irked me because he was a staunch supporter of invading Afghanistan and now that it's gotten tough, he ready to bail out and of course no mention that he was one of the biggest cheerleaders of us going there in first place.

Surrendering the country back to the Taliban and Al Queda would have some pretty darn serious consequences. No mention of those consequences from Mr. Will. It may be a shithole but it seems to me that the costs of pulling out are too great right now.

If the D's think of Afghanistan as the "just war", then it's probably a good idea to get out of there no matter what the consequences. Invade Syria, Iran, Upper Volta, I don't care; just don't continue to fight their just war.

Wait, it's not up to Will or Stephens or any of us, is it? O, lost!
