Been wondering what that clown thing is that sits atop the heads of Israeli soldiers? It's called a mitznefet and is a head cover designed to hide the shape/alter the silhouette from enemy snipers. The thing is essentially a hairnet that fits over the standard Israeli helmet. Could be that elements of the U.S. military adopt something similar when they're not otherwise busy committing silly acts like the new U.S. Navy "battle dress" fatigues. They're similar to the Army BDU's only the Navy's are in a *blue* camo pattern. Obviously, that's in case sailors decide to jump off warships in order to swim to the enemy. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Jews in Biblical times used to wear similar headgear. They were made by meticulously sewing together the foreskins of slain Philistines.
That sounds like a pledge party gone wrong.
