Common Man's Drink

For the record, not all of us here at WAPR have aged like fine wine. We can't order off a french menu, we don't know the difference between a Malbec and Mad Dog (is there a difference?), we think of golf as an excuse to spend 4 hours or so talking about things we can't discuss in front of our better halves: chicks, the beer girl, and things we've done that we're ashamed of, and - of course - we drink beer. For the record, my brew of choice is usually a stout (mainly Guinness), and I found the following to be quite informative: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/28/dining/reviews/28wine.html

To a word I agreed with the author on stouts in general, from the types of stouts preferred to the types avoided. I have only enjoyed one of the stouts that was tasted/rated (Bear Republic), and look forward to trying the rest. If Mr. Bulba doesn't mind a little slumming, he's welcome to join me.

You're so butch. Not. Let's see--Nimdok is in line both with the NY Times AND it's overly sensitive writer who can't bring himself to drink anything other than effette attempts at beer credibility. Using "consciousness" and "paradoxically bull bodied yet delicate" to describe beer and stout? Read "Cat Fancy", too? Just kidding--I defer to Nimdok in all beer matters even while he's sucking up to the NY Times. And, for the record, eating an entire octopus is something you just don't get to do every day--I had had just tentacles prior to that. Probably for good reason--head and eyes were a little chewy. The malbec was okay, though.

Have to admit, don't know that I have the boys to try much more than the tentacles of an octopus. And such terms as "paradoxically full bodied yet delicate"? That shit works when you're hittin' up the "full-bodied" beer wench who just filled your order.
Or so I'm told...

Shellback has a new bottle of tequila for his birthday and has been nipping off of it all day. He's not wearing pants.

I've always heard that tequila impacts different people differently; that's what I've always been told.

Malbec? Former Spurs Coach? Please advise.
