David Thomson opines that the new book on the defunct Confidential Magazine misses the point or glazes over the real stories of golden era Hollywood:

I'm guessing that Thomson has a lot of purple in his closet. NTTAWWT. He mentions that Mitchum took a leak on a fellow actor's car one evening. In Hollywood pissing lore, that pales in comparison to John Wayne urinating into Ward Bond's whiskey flask. John Ford loved Wayne from then on.
